Ostheimer's Startaler Girl is a beautiful blonde figurine wearing a blue dress studded with yellow stars. She's holding her hands together with palms upward.

This figurine tells the story of the Grimm's fairy tale "Star Taler" or "Star Money". A poor, kind, homeless girl gives away all of her possessions, right down to her last item of clothing, which she gives to a naked beggar. Suddenly, she sees stars falling from the sky and she finds herself wearing a beautiful dress. She lifts the dress to catch the falling stars and as they land they turn into money. Startaler then lives the rest of her days with great happiness and fortune.

This gorgeous, handcrafted timber toy stands at 10cm tall. Her natural wooden figure feels beautiful in the hand.

All Ostheimer Wooden Toys are traced by hand in Germany onto natural, native hardwood (maple, elm, or ash), before being cut and sanded and then finished off by hand with up to six coats of non-toxic, water-soluble, transparent colour that is designed to show the beautiful woodgrain beneath. The soft edges of each toy are a hallmark of Ostheimer and what makes them just so lovely to play with. All Ostheimer toys meet the European and international safety standards and the European NORM EN 71 for toys.

As each Ostheimer figurine is created and finished by hand, they vary slightly in terms of shape, colouring, and the amount of woodgrain or knots showing through the colouring. Each animal is perfectly unique.

Suitable for play by ages 3 and up.
