This very special award-winning picture book delivers a slice of Australian history. Tea and Sugar Christmas follows Kathleen, an Indigenous Australian girl living at a settlement along the Nullarbor Plain, a 1050 mile-long rail link. Kathleen's family has run out of tea and sugar and must wait for the Tea and Sugar Train to arrive on Thursday. This week, Kathleen hopes the train will also bring someone very special with it - Father Christmas.

With classic illustrations and mostly muted colours, this gorgeous book captures the isolation of Kathleen's town. The contents of the train are shown in great detail, inviting children to pore over the pages. Each page spread opens out to one side to reveal a double page colour illustration.

Tea and Sugar Christmas won a 2015 Australian Book Industry Award, was awarded Honour Book in the Children's Book of the Year Awards, and was shortlisted for the NSW Premier's Literary Awards in 2016.
