Grimm's | Large Rainbow Pastel

My two and four year old girls were visibly excited as they unwrapped the Grimm’s rainbow, pulled out all the twelve pieces and started playing with them on our coffee table. I was pleasantly surprised as this was my first Grimm’s purchase, largely motivated by the fact that the Grimm’s Rainbow made the cut in multiple lists of top ten open ended toys for preschoolers. I think it’s widely agreed that the rainbow will last beyond preschool age too. We keep ours displayed on our bookshelf and our four year old often reaches for it herself together with the rainbow semi-circles and rainbow friends that I purchased soon afterwards. Their favourite activities are to stack the pieces vertically and to lay them down and put semi-circles on top to make enclosures for their dolls and toys as well as ‘birthday cakes’. There is a version of this item at a well known Department store that I frequent and I do love a bargain. However the Grimm’s rainbow is worth the investment, as: (1) you can purchase coordinating items such as the semi-circles to extend play value; (2) the wood is dyed not gloss-painted so it stacks better and won’t chip; (3) As a hand-finished item made in Europe, the Grimm’s rainbow is an heirloom toy that I know my girls could gift to their own children; & (4) Although I don’t intend to sell ours I often see second hand Grimm’s advertised for close to full price so it appears to have excellent resale value.

It's absolutely beautiful
Both my 2 and 8 year old girls love playing with it. It's so adaptable...from making caves for their dolls, to arches for their buildings and amazing balancing sculpulptures! Thanks so much for such a quality item Milk Tooth 😍
