The Pislik Marble Counting Board is the most wonderful educational tool for pre-school and school-aged children. Not only can it be used for counting, it can also be used to learn and practice addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Made from sustainable birch wood, it is a beautiful mathematical aid.
The Counting Board comes complete with a set of 40 glass marbles and 5 Pislik wooden figurines with colour-coded tops. Below are some questions you might like to ask your child to help them explore th possibilities of the board:
- ADDITION: The red person has three balls and the green person has two balls. How many balls do they have together?
- SUBTRACTION: The white person had six balls and then lost two. How many does she have left?
- MULTIPLICATION: The blue person has three balls, the red person has three balls, and the green person also has three balls. How many sets of three balls do you see? How many balls are there all together?
- DIVISION: Can you give an equal amount of the 40 marbles to each of the five people? How many do they each have?
There are endless variations and you could even switch so that your child is asking you some questions. Most importantly, have fun!
As each Pislik timber toy is created and finished by hand, they vary slightly in terms of shape, colouring, and the amount of woodgrain or knots showing through the colouring. Each piece is perfectly unique.
Suitable for ages 3 years old and up. The glass marbles and wooden figurines are a choking hazard and must not be used by children 3 years and over if they have a tendency to put things in their mouths.
